Crowns and bridges are fixed dental restoration methods designed to replace the missing teeth by attaching artificial teeth.

Crowns serve many needs; they protect a weak tooth from decay or damage or help restore a tooth that is already broken or worn down.

If a person has one or multiple teeth missing, a bridge helps restore their bite, smile, and oral health.

Dental Crowns Overview

Both crowns and bridges are considered a fixed dental restoration, unlike dentures that are removable. Crowns and bridges are bonded to the existing teeth so that they can be removed only by a dentist. Dental crowns were first introduced in the 19th century by the Etruscans civilization, and they made crows using gold, bone, plus human teeth. Throughout the 19th century, the Etruscans invented advanced porcelain crowns and metal crowns in order to make the crowns very strong and long-lasting.

Why Get Crowns and Bridges?

There are several benefits of crowns and bridges:

  • Restore a large filling in teeth that are badly damaged, protect the teeth from fracturing
  • Attach and cover dental implants, and cover a discolored or misshapen tooth
  • Save teeth from damage and make cosmetic changes
  • Improve your bite strength by replacing missing teeth
  • Boost confidence by maintaining healthy and strong teeth

Crowns and Bridges Procedure

The procedure to place crowns and bridges is a fairly simple procedure. At Kremer Dental Care, we often schedule more than one appointment to create and place your dental crowns or bridges.

  • In the first appointment, we prepare the shape of the teeth.
  • Then, we get the impression and place a temporary crown or bridge.
  • The second appointment is often two weeks after the final crown or bridge is ready to be placed.
  • During this second visit, we cement the crowns or bridges and complete the procedure.

Here’s what our patients are saying about us...

  • For years I had disliked my smile because I went to a dentist who did more harm than good. After going to Dr. Kremer I have a wonderful smile and receive compliments on how beautiful my teeth are.

Dr. Kremer's staff is caring and compassionate and explains procedures that will be done and how long it will take. I couldn't be happier with the service I received.

Dr. Kremer advertises as a dentist but he really a magician! Thanks, Dr. Kremer, for restoring something I thought I would never see again.....a beautiful smile.

  • I love my new smile! I have had lifelong dental problems that have made me apprehensive and actually fearful to see a dentist.

From the moment I walked into his office door I felt as if I was the staff's number one priority. Their friendly welcome put me immediately at ease.

Dr. Kremer's office is beautiful and the dental equipment is state-of-the-art. I am glad I chose a dentist who is so knowledgeable and a leader in the dental field. Thanks Dr. Kremer, I love my new smile.

  • My confidence level is off the charts! Looking back on my teeth before veneers... WOW! Major, major difference!

In the process between the temporary and the porcelains, there were quite a few visits to the dentist office to make sure the real things were going to fit just right and feel natural. In the mean time, when my teeth weren't feeling accurate, Dr. Kremer and the team didn't waste any time fitting me into their schedule to figure out exactly what the problem was.
